The last Hollywood Week has begun for the final season of "American Idol" and we can expect that the popular singing contest that produced the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks to go out with a bang - and it looks like it will.
Ryan Seacrest has just given the news that the show's former judges, including original judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, have agreed to make an appearance in the show's Farewell Season.
They're not going to replace current judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., since the three will remain judges for the 15th and final season, but viewers will get to see the former judges in some capacity which remains uncertain for now.
"I've spoken to all of them recently ... to do something for the final season ... They are going to do it it's just a matter of figuring what to do with them," Seacrest revealed during Hollywood Week. "They've all considered it and I think are enthusiastic about coming back and saluting the show," he added.
Just how do the current judges feel about the news? Jennifer Lopez doesn't seem too worried about the former judges' return while Harry Connick, Jr. and Keith Urban both have a scenario playing in their minds.
"I'll go up and sing for him and let him judge me," Connick says of original "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell. Urban, on the other hand, wants to see Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres in close proximity together. "I'd like to see Ellen and Simon sitting very close to each other, right next to each other, showing people that chemistry," Urban joked.
No other details have been revealed but it doesn't hurt to hope that all the former winners will have an explosive finale performance to make the final season even more memorable.
"American Idol: The Farewell Season" kicks off with a two-day season premiere on Fox on Jan. 6 and 7, 2016.
