Country star Jason Aldean and former "American Idol" Brittany Kerr finally tied the knot on Saturday, March 21 after being engaged in September 2014. The evening ceremony took place in Mexico and was attended by the newlywed's families and friends including Jason's two daughters from a previous marriage.
This is the second time Jason is a married man. His first marriage was with Jessica Ussery, his high school sweetheart. They have two daughters namely Keeley, 12, and Kendyl, 7. The marriage lasted for almost 12 years before the couple divorced.
Prior to the Aldean and Kerr's engagement, the two had been dating for two years. The decision to get married has earned approval from Brittany's grandmother, Louvada Barbee, who believes her granddaughter had nothing to do with Jason's failed first marriage.
"It was over a long time before they met," said Barbee who disagrees with claims that Kerr is a homewrecker. "He left his wife long before they got together. He left his wife long before she even talked to him."
Aldean and Kerr were involved in a scandal in September 2012 when they were seen kissing at a bar and caught on film. At that time, Jason was married to Ussery. At the time Kerr and Aldean for the incident and initially denied that something was going on between them.
"The truth is that I screwed up," said Aldean. "I had too much to drink. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys."
In April 2013, divorce papers were filed by Aldean and Ussery citing "irreconcilable differences."
After the couple officially split, Kerr and Aldean confirmed in March 2014 they were officially dating. The couple got engaged six months later.
The wedding list included Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson as one of the guests.
"This is the best day ever," said Aldean. "I've got my girl here, my friends and family."
"Today has been the best day of my life," said Kerr, who was also a cheerleader for the NBA's "Charlotte Bobcats." "I feel the luckiest woman to have been able to marry my best friend."
