While Star Wars Battlefront is the video game set in a galaxy far, far away that has everybody talking, another (much older) Star Wars game will be debuting for a new generation tomorrow in the form of Super Star Wars.
Originally released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo, Super Star Wars is a brutally difficult side-scrolling shooter in which players control Luke, Han Solo and Chewbacca and must battle their way through scenarios that vaguely follow the story line of A New Hope. For example, instead of Luke simply buying C-3POfrom the Jawas, players instead control Luke as he personally assaults the Jawa Sand Crawler, killing everything that moves inside before leaving with the golden droid. Apply that logic to the entire film and you have Super Star Wars.
Now Super Star Wars is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita tomorrow with a number of modern enhancements. For starters, the game is getting trophy support, so you'll at least earn some recognition for conquering the game's challenging stages. A new save feature has been implemented and the game has gotten some visual improvements as well.
That's all great news for Star Wars gamers. Better yet, the game comes included with Star Wars Battlefront PlayStation 4 bundles alongside three other, older Star Wars games in the form of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Star Wars: Racer Revenge and Star Wars: Starfighter. No word yet on how much Super Star Wars will cost or when the other games may release outside of the bundle, but expect more details soon.
If you are a Star Wars gamer, this week is for you. Star Wars Battlefront releases tomorrow on Nov. 17 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. You can read more about the game's season pass here.
