Amazon Launches Pantry Grocery Delivery Service In The UK For Prime Members

Amazon announced on Friday the U.K. launch of its new delivery service called Amazon Pantry that is offered exclusively to Prime members.

Starting today, Prime members across the pond can fill a box up with groceries, household supplies, health and beauty products, and child or pet products up to the weight of 20 kg, about 44 pounds, that will be sent out for one-day delivery for £2.99 ($4.55), and 99p ($1.50) for each additional box in that order.

Amazon Pantry shoppers first add a product into their basket to start a box. They then can keep adding products until the box is full. Members can track the available space they have in their Pantry box based on the size and weight of the items, so they can choose whether or not to purchase certain items when trying to stick to a one-box order.

Prime Now already lets members order some of these types of products already, but Pantry has a wider selection of food, drink, and other household goods, plus it's available across the U.K. and not just in select cities like the one-hour delivery service.

Amazon Pantry currently has more than 4,000 items now available, with "thousands more" to be added. The Pantry is filled with many popular brands like Heinz, Kellogg's, Nescafé, Huggies, Pampers, Dove and Purina.

Products are organized by categories for an easy shopping experiencing including: Baby & Child, Food Cupboard, Drinks, Snacks, and Beer, Wine & Spirits.

Pantry also provides members with themed boxes to help them find items they need tied to an activity or an occasion such as a birthday party or a weekend camping trip. These include pet care essentials, a "good morning" box, back to school supplies, and indulgent treats.

Amazon Pantry is available to Prime members just in the U.K. for now. A Prime membership costs $99 per year, with access to free shipping, Prime Music, Prime Instant Video and more. New customers can also sign up for a free 30-day trial.
