Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro With Fingerprint Scanner, Full-Metal Body Gets TENAA Certification

Numerous leaks hinted that Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro improved its external design and new images show that the rumors are true. Xiaomi upgraded the chassis of the handset and the Chinese regulatory agency TENAA gave Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro the green light.

The certification from TENAA reveals even more details about the price-friendly handset. When comparing the hardware configurations of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro, the only difference is that the Pro has a silver metal back and a fingerprint ID scanner.

This means that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is powered by an eight-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 SoC clocked at 2.0GHz and is backed by 2 GB of RAM. For those who want to max out the processing power, a 3 GB RAM model exists. The default storage space is only 16 GB.

Camera-wise, the Chinese smartphone features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie front snapper. On the backside of the device, under the rear camera, there is the LED flash and a fingerprint scanner.

The display from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 makes its appearance on the Redmi Note 2 Pro model as well, offering users a 1,080 x 1,920 resolution on a 5.5-inch screen real estate. To keep the device running, Xiaomi opted for a decently-sized 3,060mAh battery.

The outer proportions changed slightly from the Redmi Note 2, but only by a small margin. More specifically, the Redmi Note 2 Pro is only 0.02-inches thicker than its predecessor.

Android 5.0.1 comes pre-installed on the new handset, just like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. Due to the similarity in specs between the two Redmi models, the extended price of the Redmi Note 2 Pro comes from the fingerprint sensor and the metallic build.

This puts the recently approved TENAA device at a cost of $172 USD, which is a good deal for its average specs. The Chinese price for the device will be of 1,099 Yuan.

Xiaomi obtained the Chinese regulator's approval, meaning that a release date is just around the corner. So far, the OEM did not disclose when the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro will enter the market, but we will notify you as soon as it happens.
