EA Access Members Can Download And Play 'Star Wars Battlefront' Now

Players on the fence about joining the EA Access program on the Xbox One now possibly have a good reason to sign up: members of the program can now download and play Star Wars Battlefront.

Of course, the program is only available on the Xbox One console (sorry, PC and PlayStation 4 gamers), and it does cost $4.99 per month, but getting Star Wars Battlefront a week early might serve as a good motivator to consider an EA Access membership.

However, there is a catch: program members only get ten hours of gameplay before everyone else. After that, they'll have to wait until the title releases on Tuesday. However, this still allows for downloading the game early - all 20GB of it - and getting in on the action before the rest of the public.

Star Wars Battlefront is a first and third person action shooter that lets players travel all over planets in a galaxy far, far away in vehicles seen in the Star Wars movies. Players can work for either the Rebel Alliance or the Empire and even have access to characters such as Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, The Emperor and Han Solo.

"Wage epic multiplayer battles on Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and the previously unexplored planet, Sullust," writes EA on its website. "Fire blasters, drive speederbikes, snowspeeders and command AT-ATs. Fight for the fate of the galaxy."

EA also recently released a companion app for the game that allows gamers to earn credits before its release next week. The app also keeps players up to date on the latest Battlefront news and lets players connect with friends and share their experiences within the game as well as play a card-based game called Base Command, which lets players earn credits for use in Battlefront. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices.

"Base Command is a lightweight card-based game that can be played with or without owning Star Wars Battlefront," writes EA. "Your objective is to defend a Rebel base under siege by the Empire. You'll fight off the Imperial forces by playing Star Cards featuring the iconic vehicles, weapons, and power-ups from Star Wars Battlefront."

There are also a few bonuses available for those players who pre-order the title.

Star Wars Battlefront launches to the public November 17.
