Windows 10 New Xbox One Experience Global Rollout Started At 3AM ET Nov. 12

After months of beta testing and anticipation, the New Xbox One Experience is finally here.

On Nov. 12, Microsoft started to roll out the major console update at 3:01 a.m. Eastern Time, 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time, respectively. It should be noted that some users will get the update with a slight delay, as Xbox deploys the update in stages globally.

Microsoft took the speed and versatility of Windows 10 and significantly improved the way in which player can have fun with their Xbox One.

For those who are eager to get the New Xbox Experience, there are two ways to do it.

If your Xbox One has Instant-on power mode enabled, the update happens automatically as a background process, as soon as you leave the console in Connected Standby mode. The fact that users sit in different time zones and wait for the worldwide rollout means that every Xbox One user will get the improved version at a different time. To access the Instant-on power mode, simply go to Settings > Power & Startup.

If, on the other hand, you are the eco-friendly type and keep your device on Energy-saving mode, your Xbox One will not download and install the New Xbox Experience by default. You have to do it yourself. For this, simply go to Settings > System and see if the update is available. If it is, all you have to do is choose "Update Now" and enjoy the new features of your console.

Xbox Live's Major Nelson reported that regardless of how gamers choose to upgrade, everyone who does not update until Nov. 23 will get a notice letting them know that the latest Microsoft patch to Xbox One is a must.

At the same time, even if you are one of the lucky few who will get the update on Nov. 12 at 3:01 a.m., you might want to wait until the next day to take the controller in hand. The reason for this is that the Xbox One Backward Compatibility, one of the most expected features of the update, goes live at 3:01 p.m. Eastern Time and 12:01 p.m. Pacific Time, respectively.

To play backward compatible Xbox 360 titles on the updated Xbox One console, just refresh the Game Collection to check out which of the Xbox 360 games from the list are ready to install. Another possibility is to load a supported Xbox 360 disc in your Xbox One and download the game.

Other important features found in the New Xbox Experience include a better designed user interface (UI), optimized loading speed and team-building capabilities. Integration across platforms even allows Xbox One players to stream their gameplay to PCs running on Windows 10.
