Huge Xbox One Update In November Has An Opt-In Beta: Here's What Else To Expect

Xbox One users will soon get treated to new features, as Microsoft announced it is working on what it calls the biggest system update yet to be rolled out in November. The upcoming overhaul will also come with an opt-in beta that lets users choose if they want first dibs on the update, with all the possible issues and problems that come with beta software.

With the opt-in beta, Xbox One users will have the option to participate in the preview or not. According to Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, spokesperson for Xbox, users can expect to receive a message in their inbox. From there, users will need to register if they want to participate in the beta. Invites for the beta, Hryb said, will be rolled out in waves.

Fastest and Most Social Experience

Mike Ybarra, the Director of Program Management for Xbox, said in a blog post that the team is planning to offer gamers a reimagined Xbox One that is based on players' feedback. He said that the update will bring the fastest as well as the most social experience ever.

It is worth noting that the new experience will be powered by Windows 10. With the update, gamers can expect that the game features will be delivered faster.

"Integrating the speed of Windows 10, the New Xbox One Experience will get you to popular gaming features up to 50 percent faster," stated Ybarra.

Following are the remarkable features that the new update touts to offer.

Xbox 360 Games on Xbox One

The update will enable backwards compatibility with more than a hundred Xbox 360 games. A few other benefits include streaming, screenshots, as well as game DVR. It will also allow users to play multiplayer with their friends.

A New Guide

With just one press of a button, users can quickly access the new Guide. Users can access Friends, get to Settings, view System Notifications, start a Party, as well as check Messages without disrupting the game.

Redesigned Home

To allow users to get to the things they often use, the team is working on a faster, easier-to-use interface to lead the user to the games and applications recently used.

"We're redesigning Home to make it faster and easier to get to the things you love," said Ybarra.

New Community Section

To make the experience more social, the team will also bring the new Community section, allowing users to tap into what other players are doing on Xbox Live. The user can join in the conversation in the Xbox Live community. Users can also expect a makeover of the Activity Feed. Additionally, gamers can explore the new Trending section to check out the most talked-about posts.

Revamped OneGuide

Users will be fully informed about the most popular live TV shows at the moment. The listings will also come in full-screen. Moreover, this will show the latest TV shows, movies, and other content.

Store Optimization

The update will also showcase the improved Store featuring these areas: Movies and TV, Apps, Music, and Games.
