With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens just a month away, fans of the franchise will see a lot of Star Wars everywhere: in media, in stores and on social media. In fact, each day leading up to the December 18 movie premiere unveils just a little more information on what to expect.
Today, Entertainment Weekly unveiled its latest nod to the Star Wars franchise, a double issue of its magazine with 32 pages featuring a lot of new information about The Force Awakens, including never-before-seen photos and four collectors editions covers featuring Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn and R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Entertainment Weekly also promises some new information about the movie, including a timeline of how the Star Wars franchise ended up in the hands of J.J. Abrams, as well as some details about the key characters in the new film.
"We go light on spoilers, but Abrams does tease a few character details, including background on Lupita Nyong'o's alien pirate Maz Kanata, what name Princess Leia is known by now, and what we need to know about Starkiller Base, the planet-sized weapon glimpsed in the movie's poster," writes Entertainment Weekly on its website.
The magazine also looks at Ford's return to the franchise as Han Solo, one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe. Also expect to get a better look at some of the new spaceships and vehicles featured in the film, including Rey's speeder and the refurbished Millennium Falcon.
The magazine also reveals details from the movie's costuming and makeup departments and looks at the stories that are now cannon to the franchise. Entertainment Weekly also mentions that some of the details from the magazine will get unveiled on its website, and asks fans to keep checking back often.
Of course, the most important question Star Wars fans continue to ask concerns the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (particularly as the character is still absent from the film's current promotions). Of course, those fans already know that Mark Hamill shows up in the film at some point, but the fate of his character is anyone's guess.
"We can't answer that question," writes Entertainment Weekly. "(That's the movie's job.) But Abrams and Mark Hamill explain how the last Jedi went from hero to intergalactic man of mystery. The galaxy's memory of Skywalker may have faded, but don't worry - the filmmakers have not forgotten him."
The Star Wars special issues of Entertainment Weekly release on Friday. Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out on December 18.
