Microsoft recently announced that the flagships Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will launch with Windows 10 Mobile preinstalled. The budget-friendly Lumia 550 receives the same treatment.
It is only natural for the rest of Lumia smartphone owners to wonder when Windows 10 Mobile will land on their devices as well.
Microsoft stated that December will be a starting point for the update's rollout. Newly-leaked information now shows when owners of other Lumia devices can expect the long-awaited updates.
In October, Microsoft promised that Windows 10 Mobile is prepared to arrive on a wide array of devices.
"Windows 10 is available on PCs and tablets now, and while Lumia 950 and 950 XL ship with Windows 10 for phones, broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December," the Redmond-based company commented on a post on the official Facebook page for the Microsoft Lumia. Microsoft also detailed which Lumia models have priority in receiving the update.
Mobile data carrier Orange now offers additional details about the release of Windows 10 Mobile on a number of Lumia handsets. The complete list can be found on Orange Poland's webpage.
Dec. 14 is the date when the Windows 10 rollout begins in Poland and it will target the Lumia models 830, 735, 640, 635 and 630. The second wave of updates will occur at the beginning of next year. On Feb. 1, 2016, owners of Lumia phones 1320, 1020, 930, 925, 920, 820, 720, 625, 532 and 520 will start to receive the upgrade. Microsoft pointed out that the features of the update will depend on the device.
Two models are not to be found on the update list: the Lumia 530 and the Lumia 1520. A possible reason for their absence is that an update for them requires more preparation, or they are simply stuck with their current variant of Windows Phone.
It is certain that the update time frame applies to the respective smartphones in Poland, but Lumia owners from other markets can expect to get the same treat as well. After all, it is not unusual for OS developers to update markets from different areas of the world within several days of each other.
Whether they receive the Windows 10 Mobile update in December or February next year, Lumia owners should soon get a much better experience from the appraised OS.
