Many excited gamers who preordered the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition went into panic when they received emails from GAME early Nov. 5 saying their preorders have been cancelled just days from the Nov. 11 release date. Furious gamers can now calm down because GAME tweeted an assurance in three parts that all preordered games are safe and that they will be in contact with customers to replace the cancelled orders.
The customers' panic is understandable considering the £99.99 or $107.41 Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition stocks are limited and preorders are the only sure way gamers can acquire the Pip Boy Edition, which is different from the normal Fallout 4 game because it comes with a wearable Pip-Boy along with other collectibles packaged in an awesome looking capsule case.
"While processing these orders, a small number of customers have experienced problems that have been caused by their bank or PayPal accounts not allowing payment to go through," GAME claimed. The reasons remain unclear as to why this happened, but it said that the banks refused to give the reason in favor of the customer's security and privacy, however, two customers countered GAME's reason for the cancellation and demanded an explanation.
It has been difficult to connect to GAME's hotline since the email regarding the sudden cancellation of preorders were sent out and GAME has been struggling to answer all queries and complaints from its customers.
Seven hours after its initial tweet, GAME finally confirmed that all preorders are safe and will not be released for general retail sale. "We would like to reassure all customers that have pre-ordered that their order is still reserved and being held for them", a GAME representative said.
It may seem that all is well, but this incident is not the first time customers experienced this kind of confusion with GAME. A similar incident regarding order cancellation also happened with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Collector's Edition back in August involving GAME. The main issue seems to stem from GAME's own system, as implied in the tweet above. GAME needs to step up their game and fix their system otherwise customer satisfaction will just continue to decline.
