Microsoft's latest offerings are set to hit India soon, with the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL set to launch by December and the Surface Pro 4 set to debut by January 2016.
Both the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones and the Surface Pro 4 tablet have stirred lots of interest since their debut, arriving as Microsoft's latest and greatest devices.
The smartphones are the only high-end handsets Microsoft launched this year, after focusing on affordable phones for the most part of 2015. The Surface Pro 4, meanwhile, is a top-notch powerhouse aiming to combine the power of a laptop with the portability of a tablet, offering the best of both worlds. Just like its predecessor, the Surface Pro 4 aims to serve as a viable laptop alternative.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella discussed the company's plans at its Future Unleashed event in Mumbai and said that its new flagship smartphones, the Windows 10-powered Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, will go on sale in India by December.
The company also announced partnerships with Snapdeal, Paytm and Justdial, as well as a cloud initiative for startups. Microsoft also showcased its powerful Surface Pro 4 at the event, which will make its debut in the country by January.
As a reminder, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL sport WQHD OLED displays of 5.2 and 5.7 inches, respectively. Under the hood, the Lumia 950 packs a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808, while the larger Lumia 950 XL draws power from the octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset. Both handsets feature 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage space and microSD support for extra storage of up to 200 GB. Both devices rock USB Type-C ports and both support Windows 10 Mobile Continuum, which allows them to serve as tiny computers.
The Windows 10-powered Surface Pro 4, meanwhile, features a 12.3-inch PixelSense display with "extremely high contrast and low glare," comes with a choice of sixth-generation Intel Core m3, i5 or i7 processors and storage configurations of 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 500 GB, among the highlights.
"At Microsoft, we strive to empower every Indian citizen and every business and government organization to achieve more. With the newly launched Microsoft Cloud and with Surface Pro 4, our customers here in India have the digital technology they need to seize incredible new growth and opportunity on a global scale," boasts the company.
