In 'Arrow' Sneak Peek, John Constantine Prepares To Restore Sara's Soul

Tonight is the night that fans of NBC's canceled series Constantine have been waiting for: the return of Matt Ryan to the role of the Hellblazer himself on The CW's Arrow.

In honor of that event, The CW recently released a sneak peek at one of the scenes from tonight's episode, titled "Haunted," which shows John Constantine (Ryan) meeting with Team Arrow about what he can do for Sara: restore her soul to her body.

Present for the ritual are the usual suspects: Oliver (Stephen Amell), Thea (Willa Holland), Diggle (David Ramsay), Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Detective Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne). They discuss the ritual with Constantine (although they seem skeptical) and prepare Sara's body for what needs to happen.

Of course, John gets the best lines in this clip, ending it by telling the team that if they fail, they won't care because they'll all be dead.

Perhaps one of the biggest questions of tonight's episode is this: how does Oliver know to call John? In a recent interview with ComicBookResources.com, Ryan unveiled that the two characters do, in fact, know each other, although he did not go into specifics.

"There's not too much I can reveal about that," said Ryan. "What I can tell you is they do have a history. Oliver calls in a favor from John. As you know, John is the reluctant hero. He's not somebody who would go out of his way for anyone really apart from himself. They do have a history and he owes Ollie one, so he steps up to the mark."

Although Constantine fans would like to see more of the character, The CW didn't pick up the show even after fans urged it to do so. Also, Ryan revealed that it's unlikely that the character will turn up again on Arrow.

"To be honest with you, it was a one-episode deal," said Ryan. "That's what I was called to do. I'm actually doing a play at the moment. They moved Heaven and Earth to get me here, because I was starting the play when they were supposed to be shooting the episode I'm in. They moved the schedule around, and that just shows the commitment of the producers to get this character into the Arrow universe. That's an amazing thing. I loved working with those guys — I wouldn't say no to it again — but at the moment, it was a one-deal thing."

Arrow airs on The CW on Wednesdays.
