Kurt Cobain’s Green Cardigan From MTV Unplugged Performance To Hit Auction Block

Nirvana's 1993 "MTV Unplugged" performance will go down in history as one of the band's most memorable moments. Now, any fan can relive that moment, as Kurt Cobain's green cardigan is auctioned off by Julien's Live on Nov. 7.

According to the auction house notes, the Manhattan brand sweater is a blend of Lycra, mohair and acrylic. It features a five-button closure (although one button is missing) and has two exterior pockets. Other defining characteristics of the cardigan are discolored area on the right pocket as well as a discoloration close to the left pocket.

As not only a part of Nirvana's legendary performance but a memorabilia from Cobain himself, the cardigan is expected to fetch anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000, with starting bids opening at $20,000. Aside from the cardigan, a signed letter of authenticity from a Cobain Family close friend who acquired the jacket will also be given to the lucky bidder.

Not satisfied with just a cardigan from the Nirvana frontman?

A lock of his hair will also be heading to the auction block, given by Courtney Love to Dame Darcy when the comic artist and doll maker was commissioned to make a doll for Frances Bean. A bundle of hair was actually provided for making the doll and the lock of hair to be auctioned off was what was left, which will have a starting bid of $4,000.

Other Nirvana items to be auctioned off include a Gold record plaque for "In Utero" and a Platinum record plaque for "Nevermind."

Joining Cobain's items in the Julien's Live auction are:

• A long-lost acoustic Gibson J-160E owned by John Lennon (dubbed the most significant guitar of the Beatles' member to be auctioned by the house, with a $300,000-starting bid);

• A Ludwig bass drumhead on the drum kit Ringo Starr used when the Beatles debuted on "The Ed Sullivan Show;"

• Handwritten Pearl Jam lyrics by Eddie Vedder;

• An insurance card belonging to Steven Tyler;

• A 24-karat gold leaf grand piano owned by Elvis Presley; and

• A few items from the Neverland Ranch that was owned by Michael Jackson, like the jacket the King of Pop wore to one of Elizabeth Taylor's weddings and the pajamas he wore for the "Leave Me Alone" video.
