PS4 Exclusive Open-World Game 'Wild' Lets You Possess And Control Animals Or Be Killed By Them

Game creator Michel Ancel, who is the man behind popular titles like Rayman, took the stage at Sony's Paris Games Week press conference to finally give gamers a look at what they can expect in the upcoming PS4 exclusive Wild.

Wild is an open-world, action adventure survival game that explores the relationship between man and nature. The game takes on the role of a shaman who is not a warrior, but rather has the ability to control and possess animals. Wild was previously announced at Gamescom last year, but little details have been known about the game — that is, until now.

In a demonstration of the gameplay, Ancel showcased some of the features of Wild. The player starts off by choosing to be a male or female shaman who must fight to stay alive in the world, where predators are lurking around every corner. The player starts off young, and the shaman's powers grow over time. With each animal you master, a tattoo appears on the character's skin that will show off how advanced you are in the game when in multiplayer mode.

The player can jump from a human character to an animal, possessing their spirit and controlling the new character. For example, the shaman can switch over to become an eagle, taking off in the skies and learn how to hunt prey. You can also call bears, riding on their backs as a means of transportation.

Since it's an open-world game, the player can decide which animals to possess, but keep in mind it's eat or be eaten in this survival game. Once you build trust with a specific animal, you establish a bond. However, up until this point, an animal can kill you if it so desires. If you happen to die while in control of an animal, the player returns to the human body. If the shaman dies, you will return to your last camp.

The biggest enemies in Wild are other humans, which include a cannibal camp. Since these cannibals are extremely dangerous, the player must take on the role of an animal to make it out alive.

The player can also communicate with the gods. These divinities are unpredictable and can be very dangerous. We were introduced to the serpent divinity in the demo, which appeared as a seductive woman with scales covering her body. When you summon the divinities, you will have to prove that you understand the world of Wild in order to succeed.

Wild is still in the early stages of its development, but you can check out the demo below.
