'Ash vs. Evil Dead' Renewed For Second Season On Starz

It seems our aging anti-hero lothario has still got it because Starz, the premium cable network hosting his return to chainsaw incoming deadites, renewed "Ash vs. Evil Dead" days before it is even set to have its worldwide series premiere. Whether Starz just has a lot of faith in the show or Ash is really just that irresistible, we'll find out for sure when it premieres on Oct. 31.

To prepare the fans for the world premiere of "Ash vs. Evil Dead," or more like to excite everyone for it, Starz is having an "Evil Dead" marathon on Oct. 30 starting at 8:00 P.M. Eastern and Pacific Time and the "Ash vs. Evil Dead" Twitter account has already told their followers to forget their plans, if they made any.

Starz said in its news release that their reason for renewing "Ash vs. Evil Dead" for a second season ahead of its first season premiere has to do with the anticipation for the series. "Strong fan, affiliate and distributor demand for the highly-anticipated premiere," Starz wrote on its Oct. 28 news release.

"The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can't end with season one," Starz Managing Director Carmi Zlotnik said. Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg since the driving force for the immense support most likely has to do with waiting and clamoring for decades before Ash Williams was given an opportunity to return and kill more deadites.

While details about season 2 are still being worked out, we can be sure that the team of Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless are returning, along with Executive Producer Craig DiGregorio.

"Ash vs. Evil Dead" will have its worldwide premiere on Oct. 31 on television and digital platforms.
