Fans have been waiting for Bruce Campbell's return as Ash Williams, and Sam Raimi, the brains and director of the original Evil Dead has prepared an insanely good plot and direction for Ash vs Evil Dead to satisfy not just the fans of the original film but for anyone who is new to the story to enjoy.
During the recently concluded New York Comic Con (NYCC), the Ash vs Evil Dead panel surprised the audience by not only showing a trailer but the entire premiere episode, intensifying the excitement fans have been feeling ever since it was announced that the series is happening.
So what's in store for Ash this time around? First, take a look at the trailer below.
The series takes off 30 years from the original The Evil Dead film and we see Ash as a middle-aged stock boy at Value Stop. He's been shirking responsibility for what he and his friends unleashed, but that's all about to change when he, once again, sets Deadites loose after reading from the Necronomicon. Soon, the Deadite plague is afoot and Ash has no choice but to face it. He is joined in his fight by his co-workers Pablo, played by Ray Santiago, and Kelly, played by Dana Delorenzo.
This time around two formidable ladies are after Ash since they blame him for the Deadite plague: first is the mysterious Ruby, played by Lucy Lawless of Xena: Warrior Princess fame, who has been hunting Ash down since she lost her family to the plague, and Star Trooper Amanda Fisher, played by Jill Marie Jones, who was ostracized by her peers in law enforcement because nobody believed her encounter with the Evil Dead. Jones also plays as Cynthia Irving in the Fox Series Sleepy Hollow.
"We thought it would be much more fun and punchy to give the audience a bing-bang-pow with the demons and wrap it up and leave [fans] wanting for more at the half-hour mark" Raimi said. Raimi definitely saw that the fans wanted more after the panel. Check out the video of fans' reactions tweeted by the official twitter account of Ash vs Evil Dead.
Bear in mind that this series is filled with blood, gore and raunchy sex scenes so make sure to keep it away from the kids.
Ash vs Evil Dead comprises of 10 episodes and will premiere on Starz on Oct. 31.
