Limited Time Only: Verizon Is Giving Away Free DROID Turbo 2 For #WhyNotWednesday Promo

A free DROID Turbo 2? Why not? It's Wednesday.

That's Verizon's latest offer for its #WhyNotWednesday program where the company offers its customers with exclusive content and experience.

In the company's latest promo, Verizon is partnering up with Motorola by giving lucky winners a chance at winning one of 200 free DROID Turbo 2's. Recently revealed barely 24 hours ago, the Verizon-only DROID Turbo 2 will officially go on sale later in the week on Thursday, Oct. 29. However, if Verizon customers participate in a virtual scavenger hunt called "DROID Seeker", they'll be able to pick one up a day in advance of the device's release.

Those who want a shot at getting the latest DROID in their hands all for free will have to visit the DROID Seeker website starting 12PM EDT. Once verified as a legit Verizon subscriber, the user is placed into a line and must wait his turn to play DROID Seeker. When it's a user's turn, he'll be notified to get ready. Then the game begins.

Contestants for the free smartphone will "be introduced to a city at night, built of concrete and glass." In this virtual world, free handset hopefuls will have 30 seconds to find one of 200 hidden DROID Turbo 2 handset images in the game. If someone does find one, Verizon will send them a real Turbo 2.

At the moment, the promotional offer for the free DROID Turbo 2 doesn't seem to be up just yet. If Verizon customers head over there now, they might just see the company's last #WhyNotWednesday giveaway about free Lyft rides in Back To The Future DeLoreans. We imagine the site will get updated just barely before the virtual scavenger game opens up for the public.

For those still catching up on the latest DROID Turbo, the Turbo 2 has a 5.4-inch display. It's got a one-of-a-kind display too as its the world's first "shatterproof" screen. Of course, the internals are up-to-date as well with an eight-core Snapdragon 810 processor, a 21 MP rear camera, 3 GB of RAM, and an all-day 3,760 mAh fast-charging battery. The new DROID Turbo 2 will cost $26 a month or $624 off contract, if a customer doesn't win one for free in the next few hours.
