'Star Wars Battlefront' Beta: More Than 1 Million Players Force-Choked To Death

To say the Star Wars Battlefront beta was huge is a bit of an understatement. It was the biggest beta in EA history, which, considering the publisher is the home of the popular Battlefield franchise, is certainly saying something.

We already knew more than 9.5 million players logged in to do battle as the Empire and the Rebels, but now, EA has revealed even more numbers associated with the beta. What the stats show are player preferences and just how difficult it was for the Rebels to overcome the Empire on Walker Assault.

For starters, the beta was played collectively for 1.6 billion minutes. That's, as EA points out, enough time to watch the original Star Wars trilogy 4.2 million times. When it comes to the hero and villain characters, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader seemed evenly matched. Both characters were spawned more than five million times, though Darth Vader appeared around 30,000 more times than his son. Vader personally force-choked 1.3 million players to death, which should give the Rebels plenty to fear.

As for weapons of choice, it looks like players were partial to the iconic E-11 Blaster Rifle, with the weapon scoring 293 million kills in the beta. Of the limited number of star cards available in the beta, players most often used the Cycler Rifle and Thermal Detonator, with the jump pack landing in third place.

The stats also reveal just how many Imperial AT-AT Walkers the Rebels managed to bring down, and the answer is not that many. Across the 1.6 billion minutes played, only 783,000 walkers were brought down. Keep in mind that the Rebels can bring down one walker in the Walker Assault game mode and still not win, so the number of Rebel victories on Hoth is far fewer than the 783,000 walkers defeated number.

Thankfully, developer DICE is aware that winning as the Rebels was a little too difficult, as it has said it will be making changes for the game's full release. EA also recently revealed the heroes and villains that will be fighting alongside Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, including the always great Emperor Palpatine. You can read more about each hero character here.

Star Wars Battlefront arrives for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Nov. 17.
