Fresh out of Secret Wars, Marvel's space-traveling superhero Star-Lord isn't your run-of-the-mill Chris Pratt as Peter Quill a la Guardians of the Galaxy, or really any Peter Quill you've encountered before. Instead, as Marvel's All-New, All-Different comic line proposes, the year-one installment of Star-Lord is unlike anything we've seen so far . But how?
Created by writer Sam Humphries (Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men: The Black Vortex) and artist Javier Garron (Inferno, Cyclops), Star-Lord #1 reboots Peter Quill's origin story, bringing readers back to when Peter was a mere teenager dreaming of a future amongst the stars; meanwhile, a space pirate lurks in the background who, according to Newsrama, "looks like Yondu — but it's not ... quite."
Here is Marvel's official synopsis:
"The child of a doomed romance between a Human and a Spartax. The man who would become the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Before there was the Star-Lord, there was Peter Quill[.] [...] After that tragic day his mother was taken from him but before his spacefaring adventures, Peter was...an astronaut?! Or at least, he wanted to be. His mission: get revenge for the death of his mother! But as NASA's biggest burn-out, it looked like the once and future Star-Lord would remain eternally grounded on Earth. But with a burning desire for vengeance and expert knowledge of spaceships - nothing will stop him from reaching the stars."
