In July, we already delved on the delay of the launching of HTC's long-awaited wearable aimed at fitness freaks — the wrist-mounted HTC Grip. For the second time, the company has once again announced that it is pushing the launching date early next year.
Three months ago, HTC made a decision to release the wearable device alongside a bevy of its fitness products later this year, after extensive wear testing as well as user feedback.
"This will be a state-of-the art comprehensive portfolio of products for this category powered by UA Record," it said in a press statement. "We are excited to launch this new comprehensive product suite and will share further details as we get closer to launch."
This wristband, which will boast a GPS radio as well as a touchscreen display, is expected to have a $199 price tag.
Additionally, the HTC Grip will also come with a curved 1.8-inch PMOLED display that is 32 by 160 pixels. The device will likewise work in tandem with iPhones running iOS 7 or higher as well as Android handsets running 4.3 and up.
This wearable will employ the apps as well as accessories of Under Armour to be able to track the pulse and heartbeat of its users. The wearer can also keep track of their fitness regimen and exercise.
The Second Holdback
The second holdback seems to apply to the company's whole "Connected Fitness" platform.
In a statement, HTC, along with its partner Under Armour, decided to delay its "fully integrated digital ecosystem of products" until early next year.
HTC claimed the global release will offer athletes with a slew of tools to assist them in keeping an eye on their health and fitness, adding that it is excited in sharing the products to the public in the near future.
Vive VR Headset
In a bid to increase the variety of products the company is offering at the present, HTC has also created the Vive VR headset, in partnership with Valve, a game developer and publisher.
It has been reported that the smartphone profits and sales of HTC dropped over the previous years.
