Video game publisher and producer Atari has teamed up with Denny's, a well-known family restaurant chain, and will combine fast food and video games to create a remix of three classic game titles.
The remixes of the three classic Atari games Centipede, Asteroids and Breakout are inspired by Denny's latest "Greatest Hits Remixed" menu. The remixed games are called "Centipup," "Hashteroids" and "Take-Out."
"We are excited to be partnering with Denny's on this partnership. Transforming our classic and beloved games into a retro, remixed promotion will be a natural way to expose our brand to a new generation and resonate with our long-time fans in a fun and unique way," says Fred Chesnais, Chief Executive Officer, Atari.
The remixed games will be food-themed and will include diner elements like syrup bottle shooter, flying hash browns and more.
Just like the classic Centipede game, Centipup is also fast-paced survival game. Gamers use a syrup bottle to fight enemies of the "Wonderfood Forest." The syrup bottle shoots out sticky syrup, which transforms enemies into eggs.
"Hashteroids is an action-packed arcade ketchup shooter where your goal is to destroy the clumps of golden-brown potatoes before they destroy you. Blasts of ketchup will break the hashteroids down, but it will take a bit of strategy and a whole lot of skill to survive. Make sure you also avoid other breakfast items like fried eggs and coffee killers," reads the product description of Hashteroids on iTunes.
The classic Breakout required gamers to destroy walls brick-by-brick. The remixed version of the game Take-Out is very similar to the original game but features plate that moves from one side to the other and uses an egg to destroy walls made of bacon and fried eggs.
The graphic effects in the three remixed games are very near to the original games. The music and sound effects make users feel as if they are playing the original version of the game.
The remixed games have received positive reviews from many gamers who have grown up playing the three Atari games. Many enthusiast gamers will also hope Atari to launch more remixed version of other popular games such as Pac Man.
However, for now, gamers can play the remixed games, which is available as a free download from Apple App store and Google Play store.
