A South Carolina woman was banned from Facebook for a day after she posted a photo of her 2-year-old daughter whose buttocks cheeks were exposed in a playful recreation of an old 1950s Coppertone ad, in which a dog is tugging on the bikini bottom of a girl.
The mom, Jill White, is a photographer. She apparently thought it would be cute to post a photo that she took of her daughter and a playmate that was captured at the beach, as it reminded her of the old ad.
White's daughter's friend, another little girl, was tugging at the bottom of her daughter's bikini bottom, and White captured the moment in a still frame. The photo reportedly reminded her of the old ad from Coppertone, so she decided to post it to Coppertone's wall. The company didn't remove the photo, but Facebook apparently stepped in and banned White from using Facebook for 24 hours for not removing the photo after officials notified her the post violated terms of use agreement in regard to pornographic images.
White said she was shocked and didn't believe the photo was a violation. She said she is "anti-porn."
"If I post the photo again, they will deactivate my account," she said. "We thought it would be cute because of the old Coppertone ad and how much her tan line looked like that."
White is a mother of six children. She reportedly posted the photo again, this time with a smiley face positioned atop the buttox cheek area that was previously exposed in the photo.
White said Coppertone could have taken the initial post down but did not. A Facebook user reported the post to Facebook, who then flagged the photo of the little girl.
