Samsung is not one to shy away from targeting Apple and the iPhone in its advertisements. The latest advert is quite humorous, yet it should give Apple something to think about when the company makes preparation to launch the iPhone 6 later in the year.
The new ad was posted on Samsung's YouTube USA channel, and it is causing many Samsung fans to rejoice in laughter, while some Apple fans are calling foul. It isn't the first time we've seen Samsung take a stab at the iPhone, and we are certain it won't be the last.
In recent ads, Samsung took shots at the iPhone's smaller display and screen resolution. In addition, Samsung even made fun of the iPhone's camera, among other things. Furthermore, whenever Samsung is feeling bold, the company sometimes attacks the iPad on its weakness, as expected.
The latest Samsung ad shows iPhone 5s users sitting near walls while charging their favorite smartphone in various locations. Some are doing it in airports, in the office at work, and even in the bathroom of all places. All this to ensure that their iPhone 5s is powered for the whole day.
Interestingly enough, one scene had one of the iPhone users noting that a new one is coming out soon. The other responded by saying he hopes the new iPhone has a better battery.
In the midst of all this madness, Samsung Galaxy S5 users can be seen enjoying their day, and not having the time to worry about battery life. At point, the ad showed a Galaxy S5 owner looking down on her screen, only to see that there's only 10 percent of battery life left. However, by using the battery saving mode, the device estimates that this 10 percent can last for a full day while on standby.
Another scene shows a Samsung Galaxy S5 user swapping out his battery and placing another inside, much to the dismay of an iPhone 5s user sitting close by.
Throughout the whole advertisement, Samsung classified these iPhone owners as "wall huggers," which is due to the need of having to charge their device on a regular basis.
After seeing the wall hugger tagline, we remembered that Samsung isn't the first to view iPhone users in this light. Back in March, John Chen, a BlackBerry executive, called iPhone users "wall huggers" due to having lower battery performance when compared to some of the latest BlackBerry 10 devices at the time.
Now, after analyzing the whole advertisement, we've got to agree with the iPhone fans by calling foul as well. The battery saving feature in the Galaxy S5 only allows users to take advantage of basic features, such as sending a text, making calls, and browsing the web. The device is practically useless for several things.
With everything turned on, the Galaxy S5 according to many reviewers, both devices last around 10 to 11 hours on normal use, and this is without Samsung's fancy power saving mode.
