New Vault-Tec Video Shows What It Means To Get Lucky In 'Fallout 4'

We've at long last reached the end. Each week Bethesda has been releasing a new video highlighting each of the seven character building stats that make up the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system in Fallout 4. With the seventh and final video, Bethesda has saved the most mysterious stat for last.

That stat is, of course, none other than luck. It's always been a little ambiguous how the luck stat helps, but Bethesda here in this video makes it sound like a stat you will want to invest in. In Fallout's signature style, the video shows that a high luck stat means you'll land more critical hits, which greatly increases your damage output. A higher luck will also mean more visits from the Mysterious Stranger, a roaming gunman who will sometimes appear to help you defeat enemies. The Mysterious Stranger was a perk in Fallout 3 that required player's have a high enough luck skill, so it looks like he will be returning in some shape or form in the new game.

But luck isn't only used in combat. A higher luck also means players will discover more and better loot while scavenging the Wasteland. While the video states patient and persistent players will still find gear and be able to accumulate wealth, those with a high luck stat will do so much fast.

A number of luck-oriented perks are teased at the end as well. Bloody mess, which in past games has increased overall damage by 5 percent and also makes enemies explode in all kinds of gruesome ways, looks to be returning, as well as a re-worked Grim Reaper's Sprint.

You can read more about how perks and character attributes will work in Fallout 4 here. And if you missed out on the previous S.P.E.C.I.A.L. video, we have you covered. Be sure to watch all of them so you'll be able to better make the hard character building choices once you have your hands on the game.

Fallout 4 arrives on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Nov. 10.
