You can't keep a good e-reader manufacturer down. Barnes & Noble has been quiet on that front for some time now, as rivals Amazon and Kobo have continued their game of oneupmanship, but the once-ubiquitous bookseller is set to make a splash yet again with a brand new Nook, the company's first to feature a waterproof and dustproof build.
With a starting price of $130, the new Nook GlowLight Plus brings back the line's titular front lighting and standard read in daylight E Ink display, along with some life-proofing features not really seen on e-reading devices outside of some speciality Kobo products.
The new reader is also said to be the company's slimmest yet and weighs in at a mere 6.9 ounces. It's got built-in Wi-Fi, naturally, and a battery that promises up to six weeks on a single charge.
It's available from Oct. 21 through the Barnes & Nobles site and will also be making an appearance at the company's still-numerous retail locations, where users can also get started with reading recommendations and the like.
