The Sony Xperia Z5 is finally available for purchase in the U.S. in unlocked form, complete with a dual-SIM version, courtesy of retailer Expansys.
Sony took the wraps off its latest flagship smartphones back in early September, but failed to offer any information as to when exactly the handsets will go on sale in the U.S. The company has still not released its Xperia Z5 in the U.S. through its own online store, but one retailer is now offering flagship sales.
U.S. retailer Expansys now lists the Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Dual (the dual-SIM variant) and the Xperia Z5 Compact unlocked in its website. The Xperia Z5 Compact and the regular Xperia Z5 (single-SIM) appear with the label "Stock is not in local warehouse," but they're still available for purchase for $549.99 and $649.99, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual (E6683) is the only one that currently appears with the label "In stock" and it sells for $669.99. The unlocked smartphone is compatible with 4G LTE on various carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket and Straight Talk.
As a reminder, the Sony Xperia Z5 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD Triluminos display (1080p, 424 ppi), an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage space, microSD support, a 23-megapixel rear camera, a 5.1-megapixel selfie cam and a fingerprint sensor. The handset is also water-resistant and dust tight with IP65 and IP68 certification and a system that runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device should get an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow soon enough.
Keeping things up and running is a 2,900 mAh battery that should deliver a long-lasting performance thanks to Sony's power-saving technology and battery stamina. Meanwhile, Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 will allow users to get 5.5 hours of battery life after just 10 minutes of charging.
It still remains unclear when Sony plans to start selling its latest Xperia Z5 lineup though its own channels in the U.S., but at least interested customers can now purchase the unlocked handsets through Expansys.
Lastly, the retailer is also taking pre-orders for the top-notch Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, which rocks an impressive 4K display. However, Expansys offers no information at this point regarding when it will receive stocks and the shipping date for the Xperia Z5 Premium pre-orders.
