Star Wars Battlefront may be primarily a multiplayer game, but there will be a few cinematic missions that players will be able to experience solo.
As detailed today over on the official Star Wars Battlefront site, the game will include five missions that can be played alone or with a friend in online or splitscreen co-op. Each mission will look to familiarize players with certain aspects of Battlefront's formula.
The Beggar's Canyon mission will have players learning the ropes of flying vehicles, as players take to the skies over Tatooine in an X-Wing to shoot down Imperial Tie Fighters. In the Invasion mission players can try their hand at flying a Snowspeeder and bring down the powerful AT-AT walkers.
Ground vehicles will have specific missions too. The Endor Chase mission will have players playing as Stormtroopers on speeder bikes hunting down rebels, with the Overpower mission putting players in control of an AT-ST walker. Last but certainly not least is a mission to help players get accustomed to the game's powerful hero and villain characters. In The Dark Side, players will take control of Darth Vader himself and siege a Rebel base on Hoth. A more straight forward tutorial called Probe Droids will also be available and teach the basic of blasters and Star Cards.
Though each mission serves as a tutorial of sorts, DICE says there is plenty of challenge and replayability in each one for even seasoned players.
"There is quite a lot of replayability in these missions - something our very competitive development team can confirm," DICE writes. "Internally at DICE, we've held competitions for the Endor Chase mission to see who the fastest speeder bike driver is. Another great challenge is to complete the Invasion mission with a completely undamaged power generator. Competitive players can really test their skills in the Training Missions and go for the max rating of three stars on them all."
Earlier today DICE also revealed a number of additional heroes and villains coming to the game. Princess Leia, Han Solo and Emperor Palpatine join the ranks of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett for the roster, with each character sporting unique weapons and abilities.
