Black Ops Friday Recap: Parkour-Like Free Run Mode And Loyalty Bonuses

Black Ops Friday continues, and the developers show us a lot of neat features we're all excited to try out. Treyarch and Activision keep us on the edge of our seats.

In the previous episode of Black Ops Friday, game designers Dan Bunting and David Vonderhaar unveiled the ninth confirmed Specialist and the new Redwood map. Now in the latest stream update, they introduce the new Free Run mode, where players will go head to head and take advantage of the new movements in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in a race against time.

Players will have a blast running on walls and double jumping again and again to their hearts' content. The map focuses more on movement and obstacles, but firearms aren't out of the picture, and throughout the course, maneuvering gets more difficult gradually, where it's "all about managing your thrust meter and the budget that meter gives you." Also, the Free Run mode is immediately available, so there's no need to unlock it.

Aside from the new mode, the developers discussed a matchmaking system, which will take network functionality into account over skill to make sure that teams are balanced when a lobby is started.

And as a clincher, the pair talked about the Loyalty Personalization Pack. Fans will get their hands on sweet in-game items for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on next-generation consoles and PC. To participate, players will have to link their accounts and reach certain levels (pictured below) in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Ghosts or Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare before Nov. 5 to get the items.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is scheduled for release on Nov. 6 and will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and other previous consoles; however, the single-player campaign introduced in the previous Black Ops Friday won't be available on last-generation platforms because of technical limitations.

Hit up the video at the 16:11 mark to see the Free Run mode in action.
