Sega has announced that Yakuza 5 will hit shelves in November. The video game developer also explains the delay of the game's release.
Yakuza 5 rolled out in Japan exclusively for PlayStation 3 in December 2012. After three long years, the long-awaited title is finally coming to the west. The title was confirmed to go official earlier this year, and in August, the PlayStation Store offered preorders for the game with a tentative release date of Dec. 30.
Moving forward, Sega came across a bunch of issues regarding the onscreen text, saying that "there were just certain parts that didn't like switching the Japanese text out for English." The video game developer also explained the delay by adding that fixing the glitches and sifting through the source code took more time than expected.
After a handful of tweaks, the game is now on its way to stores and is scheduled to launch in mid-November. Sega also promises that it will keep eager fans in the loop for any updates.
"Everything is more or less back on track. Once we have details, we'll make sure to share them!" Sega says on its blog along with five movie suggestions to "get hyped for Yakuza 5."
Aside from Yakuza 4's release in 2011, Yakuza 5 will be one of the first Japanese core games released in other countries. Also, Yakuza 5 will use a new graphics engine, which will also be used in the re-release of PlayStation 2's Yakuza: Kiwami for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
In September, Toshiro Nagoshi, the creator of the series, announced at Sony's PlayStation conference at Tokyo Game Show 2015 that a Yakuza 6 was in the works for the PlayStation 4 with a fall of 2016 release date. However, he did not mention whether the upcoming title is going to get a North American version when it's released.
Yakuza 5 can purchased for $40 when it becomes live on the PlayStation Network on Dec. 31. Fans can also preorder the game for $34.
