Ratchet and Clank first made their debut on PlayStation consoles in 2002. For over a decade, their escapades of saving the universe from evil have gained quite a following and the over-the-top gadgets and weapons that the mechanic Ratchet often has handy are a treat to play around with.
The animated movie "Ratchet and Clank" is slated for release in April 2016 and will coincide with the unveiling of the new remade original game also set to be in stores the spring of 2016. This first trailer was revealed exclusively for iTunes and we can't get enough of it.
Ratchet, the feline-esque creature known as a Lombax, is rendered very similarly to how he appears in the game series. His sentient robot companion, Clank, can also be recognized as a familiar friend to those who have been following their PlayStation adventures for more than a decade.
It is worth noting that even though "Ratchet and Clank" aficionados will feel like they're in familiar territory while watching the trailer, even non-gamers will be able to appreciate the humor and just enough of the story to pique their interest. Reviews of the trailer say that even if the trailer so far looks like the game, it does not feel like it was adapted from a game. Which is great news for the film to appeal to a wider audience.
The film version of "Ratchet and Clank" features the voices of James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet and David Kaye as Clank who are veterans of the characters. Also featured in the movie will be Hollywood stars Rosario Dawson, Paul Giamatti, John Goodman and Sylvester Stallone.
Set to debut in theaters on April 29, 2016, "Ratchet and Clank" the movie will focus on the beginnings of the duo's friendship. And you'll never even have to pick up a controller to get to the next scene!
