Google lately unveiled its next mobile operating system, Android L, at the Google I/O. Google gave a glimpse of some of the new features that may be included in Android L, but reports suggests that there may be more features which the company did not highlight.
Google may start releasing Android L operating system to devices in this fall. Undoubtedly, Google Nexus devices may become the first to get a software update; however, the company has not confirmed the exact devices or specific dates of when the update will be released.
On June 25, Google announced that Android L will have a cleaner interface, enhanced security, improved notification system and more. However, Android L will also bring in some hidden features that the company did not reveal.
Android L will integrate Google Voice and Google Hangouts. Latest report suggests that Android smartphone users who have Google Voice accounts will be able to make phone calls free of charge and also receive voicemails via Google Hangouts.
The feature will be handy for customers who will not have to purchase data plans, which can be quite expensive. Google Voice account, which is available for free, will enable users to make and receive calls and access their voicemails over Wi-Fi.
Android L will also bring a feature called the "Smart Reply." This feature will let users automatically send messages from the Voice or carrier number in Hangout, which received the last message.
The upcoming Android operating system is also said to create backups of SMS and MMS on a file. Users will be able to recover messages at a later time.
Google also announced that Android L will feature some battery friendly aspects; however, it did not give detailed information on the same. Customers using the latest operating system on their smartphone will be able to find the time remaining before the battery will be fully charged.
Android L will also feature a "Battery Saver Mode," which the customers can access from the "Settings" of their handset. Once the battery charge reduces to a certain level, the handset will automatically start saving battery charge. Users will have the option to set the battery charge at which the handset goes in the Battery Saver Mode.
Google has already released the developer version of Android L to specific handsets. Users will be keen to get a feel of the latest features of Android L; however, they will have to wait until individual carriers and handset providers issue an update for their smartphones.
