The preorder for Microsoft's new Surface Book launched just last week, and already the devices seem to have sold out on Microsoft's official online store.
If you head over to the online Microsoft Store now to preorder a Surface Book, you'll see that you won't be able to. Instead, the only option available for each model of the new device is a light green button that reads "Email me when available," meaning Microsoft will send you an email to notify you when the product is once again in stock.
The Surface Book was a surprise announcement during Microsoft's Windows 10 Devices Event last week. The device is the first-ever laptop from the company, so the fact that preorders for the Surface Book, which start at the not-so-cheap price of $1,499, may show that people have been waiting for Microsoft to get into the laptop game for quite some time and they're welcoming the company into the market with open arms.
However, in many ways the Surface Book is less like standard laptops and more like Microsoft's Surface line of tablets. The 13.5-inch Surface Book features a touchscreen that can be detached from the keyboard and used just like a regular tablet.
It's unclear when Microsoft's online store will have more Surface Books in stock or if they are available for preorder at the company's retail locations. As Microsoft News points out, the Surface Book is still available for preorder on Amazon.
The Surface Book will be officially released in the United States and Canada beginning Oct. 26.
