After six years of being pure fun without an actual, official storyline, Mojang finally released Minecraft Story Mode. The game's story mode is a collaboration between game developers Mojang and Telltale Games, developer of other popular games such as Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands.
Just what is in store for players of Minecraft should they decide to engage in this epic adventure? Well, first, players get to choose whether to play as a male or female and decide who the protagonist will be from a pre-designed set of characters, though whichever one the player chooses; the lead character's name is still Jesse.
The story, of course, centers on Jesse who fits the image of an anti-hero: a guy or girl whose peers don't really feel is worthy of being given their attention. Of course, Jesse is still optimistic and decides to gain respect by building something for EnderCon. They complete their project but things never go the way they're planned, do they? During the EnderCon something really bad happens and Jesse and his friends must set out to find "The Order of the Stone," a legendary group of heroes who they believe would be able to rid them of the menace that was released during EnderCon.
The gameplay is similar to other Telltale Games adventures in that it involves interaction with other characters, but it injects a lot of humor as well, making it family-oriented and kid-friendly, all while still ensuring that the older fans of the game can play it without getting bored.
The female Jesse is voiced by Catherine Taber and Patton Oswalt, who plays the triplets Sam, Bill and Eric Kroenig in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., lends his voice to male Jesse.
