Telltale Games has unleashed a new Minecraft: Story Mode trailer, and it explains the story behind the game.
Minecraft: Story Mode is a collaboration between Mojang, the developer behind Minecraft, and Telltale Games, developer of episodic adventure games like The Wolf Among Us, Tales From the Borderlands and the award-winning The Walking Dead. It features an original story set in the Minecraft universe, and in true Telltale fashion, will unfold in five episodic installments.
This new trailer is more specifically for the first episode, entitled "The Order of the Stone." You play as a pixelated Minecraft character named Jesse (and you can choose to make Jesse a man or a woman), who takes a group of friends to a fan convention celebrating a legendary group of warriors named (you guessed it) the Order of the Stone. But while there, Jesse and his friends find that something is very, very wrong, and they are the only ones who can track down the Order and save the world.
Minecraft: Story Mode stars Patton Oswalt as the male version of Jesse, and Catherine Taber (Padme Amidala on Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as female Jesse. Other recognizable names involved include Martha Plimpton (Goonies, Raising Hope), Paul Reubens (PeeWee Herman), comedian/actor John Hodgman, and '80s heartthrob Corey Feldman, among many others.
Episode 1 premieres online Tuesday, October 13, for PC, Mac, Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Two days later, mobile devices join in with releases on iOS, Android, and Kindle devices. Wii U and PlayStation Vita versions are coming later in the year.
A disc-based version of the season pass for all five episodes will also be available at retailers on October 27.
