Magic Books: Harry Potter iBooks To Have Animated Annotations By JK Rowling

Harry Potter and his friend used a magical map created by his father to keep watch over people roaming the halls of Hogwarts. The movies also show us how the Wizarding world's newspapers and even Wanted posters show animated images gracing the paper. While we're a long way off from magical portraits, iBooks is creating the next best thing. Exclusive editions of the Harry Potter series with animated annotations by J.K. Rowling herself.

On sale today on the Apple iBook Store, the enhanced editions of all seven Harry Potter books will feature artwork that you can interact with on your mobile device, and interesting notes and factoids from the author.

Previously, digital editions of the books were only available on the Pottermore online shop. However, the English version of these enhanced editions will be available for $9.99 each in 32 different countries with editions in French, Spanish and German to be released on Nov. 9.

“Harry Potter fans are going to love how their favorite stories come to life. J.K. Rowling’s legendary series is perfect for enjoying on your iPad or iPhone and we’re thrilled to offer them exclusively on the iBooks Store,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook of these exclusive enhanced edition Harry Potter iBooks.

The series may have ended back in 2007 and the last movie was out in theatres in 2011, but the world of Harry Potter is still as popular as ever. Last year, new editions of the bound books were released with new covers and sales increased by 29 percent. A new movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, starring Eddie Redmayne and set in the Wizarding world decades before Harry Potter was born, is also currently in production.

So if you've got an Apple device, head on over the Apple iBook store on iTunes and say, “Accio animated iBooks!” to get these enhanced edition Harry Potter books into your Library
