Last night, the Winchester boys returned in The CW's Supernatural, and brought their demon-fighting gang with them.
However, in next week's episode, the boys could face perhaps the craziest supernatural villain they've ever met: meet Amara, the baby of doom.
In next week's episode, titled "Form and Void," the Winchesters have taken the care of Amara into their own hands, after her father got infected by the Darkness, the main evil thing that the brothers will fight over the course of Supernatural's 11th season. Of course, Amara isn't just any baby: she possesses the Mark of Cain, that mark that once plagued Dean (Jensen Ackles).
This means that the baby is evil, so it's likely that Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean will have to decide whether to kill it or not. Of course, Crowley (Mark Sheppard), the King of Hell, is around, "advising" the brothers on the best course of action, but in the end, he just sits back and says "fascinating" while dressed like a priest.
Here's a preview of next week's episode.
The 11th season of Supernatural has the Winchesters fighting the Darkness, a thing that existed before Biblical times, something that God himself once fought. The Winchesters accidentally unleashed the Darkness upon the world again when they removed the Mark of Cain from Dean. This means that the series may have to bring God, as a character, into the series.
"I think [the Darkness] certainly opens the door for Lucifer and/or God to pop up," said Padalecki to Entertainment Weekly. "We're certainly going back to that and going a bit more biblical and having our take on the writings that didn't make it into the Bible."
However, that may also mean the return of another character from previous seasons: Metatron (Curtis Armstrong).
"We're going to have to maybe go to Metatron for help, or Castiel, and we don't even know what they know because the Darkness predates them as well," said Padelecki. "We're going to see the boys really stop at no end to right this wrong they've brought onto this Earth."
However, if this new preview is any indication, Castiel is out of the equation as he doesn't look like he's in very good shape, certainly not enough to help the Winchesters in saving the world from their mistake. That means that the most likely choice is the smug Metatron.
Supernatural airs on The CW on Wednesday nights.
