Printers are great inventions, but they're not at all mobile, and if you're not at home or in an office where a printer might be handy, then you're probably out of luck.
A new printer by a company called Brother hopes to change that and has released a printer called the PocketJet 7, with the goal being that this device will do for printers what smartphones have done for computers — mobilize them.
Not only is the printer ultra-portable, but it's also able to print from a wide range of devices, including those that run on iOS, Android, OS X and Windows. It supports technology like Bluetooth and Apple's AirPrint as well. Basically, you can print from any device.
The PocketJet 7 is able to print documents right out of the box, and users don't have to deal with messy ink cartridges or toners. Instead, the printer uses what's called thermal printing, which works by heating up selected parts of thermal paper. Of course, because of this, it's important to mention that users will need to purchase the right paper — which can be bought from Brother's website — in order to print their documents.
A number of accessories designed to keep the printer safe are also available. For example, there is a roll case that has an IP54 rating, meaning that if the user drops the printer from up to four feet, it should be fine. Other accessories include a Vehicle Kit that keeps the printer charged in the case of long car trips.
The PocketJet 7 printer comes in a number of different models with a range of connectivity options, or one with all the options that the printer has to offer.
