In one corner, there's Alex Morgan, star forward on the World Cup-winning United States women's national soccer team.
In the other corner, there's Kobe Bryant, five-time NBA champion, future Hall of Famer and avid soccer fan.
It took the Black Mamba choosing the U.S. women's team to defeat the World Cup hero. What's crazier? Bryant scored both of his goals using Morgan herself. Of course, Morgan allowed Bryant to tab the U.S., while she chose Canada.
"It's OK, it took you to beat you. It's fine," Bryant said, offering consolation to his opponent after defeating Morgan and the Canadian national team 2-1 in the video game.
Bryant wasn't as confident when the game started, though.
"Where did you learn how to pass?" Morgan asked him as their match started.
"Who said I ever learned?" Bryant responded, laughing. "I only do it when necessary. It's like a necessary evil. It's like eating broccoli."
Within seconds, though, Bryant gets comfortable and taps his thumbs skillfully enough to have Morgan's character in the game dribble past defenders and deposit a cross-net goal for a 1-0 lead.
As Bryant reclined back on the sofa in pure joy and called the goal "beautiful" and "gorgeous," Morgan hesitantly gave him credit.
Moments later, Morgan dug back into the match, scoring on a free kick to knot the score at 1-1 to Bryant's dismay.
Morgan's celebration would be short-lived, however, as Bryant — once again using Morgan as his character — dribbled past a defender and pocketed a goal over the stretched body and fingertips of the Canadian goalkeeper.
"Goooaal!" Bryant shouted.
EA Sports should definitely be grateful for Bryant's involvement in FIFA 16, considering the NBA superstar took the time to play Morgan and last month even made a cameo in the title's "Play Beautiful" official ad.
Bryant knows his soccer.
