If you're already counting down the days to the Marvel/Netflix premiere of Jessica Jones, which debuts Nov. 20, this might help assuage some of your suspense-induced anxiety: a new Marvel Jessica Jones one-shot, available on Comixology. Oh — and it's 100 percent free.
Written by Brian Michael Bendis (who created the character of Jessica Jones back in 2001, when she appeared in Alias #1) and illustrated by Michael Gaydos, the 12-page issue is meant to serve as an amp-up to the premiere of the streaming show, which stars Krysten Ritter (Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, Breaking Bad) in the titular role. Bendis himself confirmed this on his blog:
"I am so excited to give to you. a BRAND NEW JESSICA JONES comic FOR FREE. ... it is in the marvel tv universe and it celebrates the new show and the connective tissue that will build between the series."
An introduction to the Netflix/Marvel variant of Jones weeks before the show comes out? If the trailers for Jessica Jones are any indication, this Bendis and Gaydos freebie is a blessing.
You can download the comic here, and check out the latest teasers for Jessica Jones in the clips below — the first of which was released on the French Netflix PR Twitter account on Oct. 6.
