Hollywood actor Tom Hanks has been the recipient of some good deeds in the past and now he's paying it forward. Hanks took to Twitter on Oct. 6 calling out a Fordham University student whose student I.D. he found in the park. He took a photo of the I.D. and tweeted: "Lauren! I found your Student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get to you. Hanx."
Hanks also posted the same photo and message on his WhoSay and Facebook account in order to find the owner of the I.D. After seven hours, thousands of retweets and shares, other Fordham students searching for Lauren, and a few people sending him a photo of Wilson, Hanks' volleyball companion in his 2000 film "Cast Away", with captions copying the latter portion of his original tweet, Twitter handle @LaurenHaughin replied to Hanks' tweet.
Other replies to his tweet were words of admiration for the actor and a message of gratitude from The Fordham Observer, Fordham University's student newspaper, thanking the actor for helping out their fellow Fordham student.
There were others who suggested that Hanks mail the I.D. to the university's registry office with his signature to surprise Lauren, while some wanted to lose their own I.D.s for Hanks to return.
This wasn't the first time Hanks used social media to get a message across. On March 13, Hanks used his Twitter account to thank the person who found and returned his missing credit card on the streets of New York.
Tom Hanks stars in the soon-to-be released Cold War thriller Bridge of Spieswhere he takes on the character of James Donovan, a real-life insurance lawyer assigned to defend Soviet spy Rudolf Abel played by Mark Rylance. Hanks collaborates with Steven Spielberg and the Coen brothers on this 1950's espionage film.
