British Kids Ask Pharrell Happy Questions During Book Tour

Anyone would be a bundle of nerves when confronted with the unexpected, but for Grammy Award winning musician Pharrell Williams, he was pleasantly surprised when faced with a group of kids for his press conference in London to promote his first children's book "Happy."

The picture book "Happy" features a collection of photographs of children all over the world celebrating what it means to be happy. What was supposed to be a regular press conference became more cheerful when Pharrell entered to meet the "press": a carefully selected group of children aged five to 10 years old who asked him questions that went beyond the scope of the book.

"What is your favorite page in the book and why" asked one little boy and, after thinking for a moment, Pharrell answered that it is "probably the page where I dedicate it to my son and all of his friends. My son, Rocket."

He was also faced with a question that required an important decision as one of the boys asked "where would you read "Happy," on the toilet or on the bed?" to which he responded with "I suppose you should read it wherever it makes you the happiest," earning laughter from both the children and adults in the room.

Overall, Pharrell left the press conference really happy saying that it felt genuine and that "there could not have been a better reception to present the idea that we're putting this book out."

In February 2015, it was reported that Pharrell signed a deal with Putnam Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Books, to produce four children's books, beginning with one inspired by his song "Happy." Pharrell was in awe that "Happy," which was a part of the "Despicable Me 2" soundtrack, attracted so many young fans and reached global success, even earning him two Grammy awards for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video.
