Following an overhauled YouTube app for Android, Google updates the app's iOS version with the Material Design theme and plenty of video-editing tools.
The YouTube app's new design is simple, and it fits well with modern smartphone interfaces. Users will find that the new interface is pretty straightforward, making new content easy to find. On the home screen, users can directly access their subscriptions, recommended videos and favorite channels. Aside from simply tapping the icons, users can swipe left and right to navigate across the different sections. /users can also move from one section to another with the newly added gesture controls.
From left to right, the three tabs of the YouTube app are Home, Subscriptions and Account. When on Home, the mobile app will offer suggestions and popular videos, and on Subscriptions, it will list down videos from YouTube channels that the user subscribed to. The History, Watch Later, Playlists and Likes sections can be accessed from the Account tab.
Film fans and makers will be delighted about the new video-editing tools included in the update, as they will now be able to do most aspects of filmmaking using only the YouTube app.
"The redesigned YouTube app makes it easier to find what you love. Now your recommended videos, favorite channels, and subscriptions can be accessed by tapping each icon or swiping your screen. You can also create fun videos on the fly with new in-app editing tools," Google posted on app's updated description.
However, online users were quick to voice out their opinions about YouTube's updated interface and functions, some criticizing the lack of a Picture in Picture (PIP) feature and incompatibility for the colorblind.
The remodeled YouTube app is free and is only 40.7 MB, but currently, it isn't available to everyone just yet, as it is still rolling out.
