They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case, it's three words plus a picture that has got America in a huff.
The cover of Cosmopolitan's Nov. 2015 issue features Kris Jenner and her five daughters in white button-downs. This is the first time in four years that the family has posed for a magazine cover. The article, to be released on Oct. 13 when the print edition hits the newsstands, will draw into stories behind the family's success.
A photo of Kardashian sisters Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall, Kylie and their mother Kris appears on the cover of the issue, with the words "America's First Family" indicated on the photo.
The magazine is obviously aiming for high impact through the text, but while the photo has been gaining popularity, particularly on Twitter, it seems that the recognition received is for all the wrong reasons.
"I love @Cosmopolitan , but if the Kardashian's are America's "first family" we're in a lot more trouble then we thought," wrote Savan Kotecha.
"Sorry Cosmo, there's only one First Family of America & it ain't the Kardashians. #CosmoFail," said Eric Wolfson.
"I find that silly and offensive. I think we should be proud of the REAL First Family we have right now not them. L," stated Lorenzo of Tom and Lorenzo.
"This is America's First Family. And I cancelled my subscription today @Cosmopolitan," posted Apollonia, who even went so far as to cancelling her Cosmopolitan subscription.
Khloe, seemingly unfazed by, or perhaps accustomed to the attention, promoted the 16-page spread.
"We're so excited to reveal our November @Cosmopolitan cover in honor of Cosmo's 50th birthday! Make sure to follow @Cosmopolitan for behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot and look for the issue everywhere in stores next week!" she wrote.
Kris Jenner also took to Instagram to express her excitement over the project.
"SO excited to reveal our November @cosmopolitan cover!!!! In honor of Cosmo's 50th birthday. Follow @cosmopolitan for behind the scenes pics from our shoot!! Issue is out next week. Thank u @joannacoles!!" she posted.
Ryan Seacrest, executive producer of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and the family's self-described "big brother" talked about the family's history and relationship dynamics.
"No one could have predicted the Kardashians' and Jenners' success. But when you spend time with them, what resonates is the family unit. There are so many things about them that are glamorous, crazy, and unlike our lives, but the sense of family is universal. They love and stand by one another no matter what," he said.
Come to think of it, if Kanye West's 2020 presidential run takes off (and pays off), this cover just might be a foreshadowing of things to come.
