Microsoft is expected to launch the next-generation Surface Pro 4 tablet at a press event in New York on Oct. 6.
The company has not revealed any information about the upcoming tablet; however, there are several rumors in the market, which suggest what the tablet is estimated to bring to the table and if the Surface Pro 4 is worth waiting for.
Display and Screen
The Surface Pro 3 sports a 12-inch display with 2160 x 1440 pixels resolution. It is worth noting that the screen of the Surface Pro 3 measured 12.8 inches, which included 0.8-inch bezels.
The upcoming Surface Pro 4 is rumored to come in two different sizes: 12-inch and 14-inch. Speculations are also rife that the Surface Pro 4 will have very thin or non-existent bezels that will increase the viewing area for customers.
Processor
The Surface Pro 3 can be configured in Intel Core i3, i5 and i7. If rumors are to be believed, then the Surface Pro 4 will get a better and faster Skylake processor, which will improve efficiency for owners. The presence of a Skylake processor in the Surface Pro 4 means that the tablet will not heat up quickly. Moreover, the processor will also allow for better gaming experience on the tablet.
Storage and RAM
The Surface Pro 3 is available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 500GB internal storage options. Microsoft is rumored to unveil a 1TB version of the Surface Pro 4 as well.
The top model of the Surface Pro 3 has 8GB of RAM. Rumors also claim that the Surface Pro 4 will be available in 16GB of RAM model as well, which will highly boost the performance of the tablet.
Security
The Surface Pro 4 will come running on Windows 10 operating system that has a feature called Windows Hello. The new feature will allow owners who have PCs with fingerprint scanners to unlock their device by scanning there fingerprint. The feature eliminates the need of inserting a password to unlock a PC.
As Surface Pro 4 will come running on Windows 10 the tablet is estimated to include a fingerprint scanner.
Accessories
The launch of Surface Pro 4 means that it will also be accompanied with a number of new accessories. However, Surface Pro 3 owners who have accessories to go with the tablet will not have to worry in case they want to purchase the Surface Pro 4. Microsoft has announced that most of the Surface Pro 4 accessories will be compatible with at least one model of the Surface Pro 4.
Stylus
The presence of a stylus has been one of the key selling points for the Surface Pro tablets. The next-gen Surface Pro 4 is rumored to get a stylus that has improved accuracy and better touch sensitivity.
USB Type-C charging port
The USB Type-C charging port allows for faster charging of the device's battery. The inclusion of the same will help owners of the Surface Pro 4 to charge their tablet faster in less time.
