PhoneSoap XL Will Let You Sanitize Smartphones, Tablets Other Objects In 5 Minutes

The PhoneSoap team will roll out yet another gadget-sanitizing device that'll completely clean smartphones, tablets and other items in just five minutes. Exceeding its original goal of $30,000, the brains behind PhoneSoap XL plans to launch its new product soon.

Almost anything gets dirty quickly, especially handheld things that people carry outside every day, such as phones. People get germs on a daily basis from handling money or basically touching anything. It's unavoidable, but for some stuff such as shoes, they can be easily cleaned with water and soap.

Tablets and smartphones, however, have chips and batteries that are sensitive to some cleaning solutions, especially liquid-based ones, not to mention they are warm and usually stored in dark places, such as pockets and bags, which are the ideal breeding conditions of bacteria.

With 4 UV-C bulbs, PhoneSoap XL only uses light to clean, which means it's significantly safer than using cleaning solutions with strong chemicals, heat or liquid.

"There are three UV light wavelength categories: UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. The UV-C wavelength is the germicidal wavelength. UV-C utilizes short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation, which effectively destroys nucleic acids and breaks apart germ DNA. With their DNA broken, germs cannot function or reproduce, and the organism dies," the PhoneSoap team posted on its Kickstarter page.

Regarding storage, it can fit almost anywhere, and not only does it clean gadgets, but it can also charge them with its built-in USB port. However, cleaning is not limited to gadgets because it can sanitize anything that fits in it, including keys and watches. PhoneSoap XL is 9.9 inches deep, 8.5 inches high and 3 inches wide, which means that almost anything handheld can fit in it, even a PSP or a Nintendo DS.

The cleaning machine is priced at $119.95, and Kickstarter supporters get a discount. When PhoneSoap meets the stretch goal of $50,000, it will add two more USB ports so that the PhoneSoap XL will charge more devices while it's sanitizing them.

Eager fans of the PhoneSoap XL will probably get their hands on the device in March 2016.
