If you didn't purchase NHL 16 yet, you're dropping the puck ... big time.
To drive that point home — and whistle you for icing at the same time — EA Sports unleashed its NHL 16 season simulation video Thursday (October 1), showing breakneck skating action that ends with the Anaheim Ducks defeating the Montreal Canadiens over a seven-game series to be crowned the Stanley Cup champion.
This continues EA Sports' tradition of predicting the Stanley Cup champs via its NHL series' season simulation videos, although neither of the teams in their 2015 prediction — the Ducks over the New York Rangers — even made it to the Stanley Cup Final this past season.
Then again, EA predicted this past Super Bowl with a surgeon's precision — not only correctly picking the result of the New England Patriots edging the Seattle Seahawks, but nailing the exact score of 28-24. That being said, it would probably be wise to give them somewhat of a benefit of the doubt in regard to hockey as well.
There's so much to like in this clip, from goaltenders making acrobatic saves to mascots riling up the crowd and high-speed pucks beaming to the back of the net. The action takes place in each conference, with EA handing out awards along the way to the likes of Sidney Crosby (Hart Memorial Trophy, Art Ross Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award) and Carey Price (Vezina Trophy), before the Ducks hoist the Cup.
Watching this season simulation video will have gamers yearning to tap their thumbs to this title.
