There's no denying that 2012's Skyfall was one of the best Bond movies ever made. It took everything that Casino Royale did well, cut the chaff of Quantum of Solace and created one of the most tense and thrilling spy movies in recent memory. Unsurprisingly, it was a huge hit - and, as with every major motion picture success, fans started wondering where the franchise would go next.
As it turns out, Spectre is taking things back to the drawing board. Fans still don't know much about the plot itself, but the title is a big clue as to what movie-goers can expect: the titular SPECTRE organization was one of the defining aspects of classic Bond films from the '60s and '70s, a worldwide organization built around terrorism and extortion. It was (and for many fans, still is), the most iconic Bond villain ever.
So far, most of the trailers have been relatively quiet, brooding pieces about a post-Skyfall Bond. The film's final trailer, on the other hand, is anything but quiet: this is easily one of the most action-filled Bond trailers ever made, and that's going on the last twenty or so seconds alone:
Bond movies are no stranger to action - that's what helped define them in the first place - but if you look closely, there are at least four different set pieces shown in the trailer. On top of all that, the sets shown in the teaser are some of the biggest ever seen in a Bond movie: sure, Casino Royale was fantastic, but all of its action sequences were relatively contained. If Eon Productions wanted Spectre to feel like a bigger, grander action movie, it definitely looks like they're on the right track.
Also, if you pause the video at just the right time, you can watch Guardians of the Galaxy's Drax fight James Bond. This is the world we live in, and it's amazing.
The best part is that the wait is almost over: Spectre hits U.S. theaters on Nov. 6.
