An early listing in the Microsoft Store reveals the highly anticipated Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 Windows 10 smartphone powerhouses, complete with some spec details.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will make their official debut next week, arriving as Microsoft's new Windows 10 flagship smartphones. Less than a week before the big event, however, the two handsets have popped up in the company's online store.
It however appears that somebody at Microsoft listed the two upcoming flagships early by accident. The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL now show up in the Microsoft Store UK as unlocked models, with confirmation for some specifications.
Clicking on the listed Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL doesn't actually lead to a product page for now, which suggests that it was indeed an accidental listing. Nevertheless, the early listing further boosts excitement ahead of the smartphones' official unveiling.
Numerous leaks and reports so far have portrayed the upcoming Lumias as powerful flagships and this accidental listing now corroborates those claims.
The Microsoft Lumia 950 listing reveals that the smartphone will have a 5.2-inch WQHD display (2560 x 1440), 32 GB of internal storage capacity expandable up to 2 TB via microSD, a powerful 20-megapixel rear camera with ZEISS optics and on-board Windows 10 out of the box to handle the software side.
The larger Microsoft Lumia 950XL is listed with a 5.7-inch display also with WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), and the same 32 GB of storage with microSD support for additional memory up to 2 TB, 20-megapixel main camera with ZEISS optics and Windows 10.
Based on these spec highlights, it seems the only difference between the Lumia 950 and the larger Lumia 950 XL is screen size — but more differences are rumored between the two. The larger model is expected to rock an iris scanner, but this early listing doesn't make any mention of it just yet. The listing also says nothing of the processor or other specs.
Pricing is not available at this point, as the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL appear listed with placeholder £XXX.XX tags on the Microsoft Store UK. The smartphones only appear in two color options – black and white – and may not get other avatars.
Microsoft will officially take the wraps off its new Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL Windows 10 flagships next week, on October 6, so we'll soon get the scoop straight from the source.
