Microsoft's Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are expected to be officially unveiled at the company's upcoming event on Oct. 6, but the pricing details of the two highly anticipated devices are still unknown.
Recent reports claim that the Lumia 950 XL is expected to be launched in France at the same price as the cheapest model of Apple's iPhone 6S, but it will come with €200 or about $223 worth of accessories bundled with the device. A report by mobile device website Phone Arena, however, gives a more definite price for the upcoming smartphones.
Phone Arena discovered a leak made by a Spanish retail website that shows the price of the dual-SIM Lumia 950 as €659 and the Lumia 950 XL as €749. This roughly translates to a price of $736 for the Lumia 950 and $836 for the Lumia 950 XL. The listing, however, does not mention if the two devices will be coming with any accessories at the price that was shown.
As a reference, Apple's iPhone 6S with internal storage of 16GB carries a price tag of €739 in Germany (about $825) and €749 (about $836) in France. There is no price for the device yet in Spain, but it should more or less stay the same.
The leaked price by the Spanish retail website, if true and not simply a gimmick to draw attention to the website ahead of the official unveiling of the devices on Oct. 6, confirms that the Lumia 950 XL will be priced similar to the 16GB iPhone 6S, though it remains to be seen whether €200 or about $223 worth of accessories will really be bundled with the smartphone.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL are geared as Microsoft's next flagship devices, sharing several specifications such as 3GB of RAM, 30MP rear-facing cameras, 5MP front-facing cameras and quad-HD resolution display. The Lumia 950 is expected to have a 5.2-inch display and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 processor, while the Luima 950 XL is expected to have a 5.7-inch display and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810, along with an iris scanner.
The features and specifications, along with the supposedly leaked prices, are still rumors, with the information not confirmed probably until Microsoft itself reveals the details at its Oct. 6 event.
